It’s Georgia Beer Day and SB 85 was introduced this week!
It’s a good week to be a brewery or a craft beer fan in Georgia! First and foremost SB 85 was introduced to the State Senate last Thursday by Sen. Rick Jeffares. This bill is an exciting step for the Georgia Brewing industry. Here is a very abridged summarization. If the bill passes, it will allow breweries to be able to sell their beer in their tasting rooms to consumers. It will also, allow customers to purchase up to one case a day from the brewery. Currently, breweries in Georgia are not allowed to sell their beer on site but can sell tours that then provide small samples of beer. This bill is a huge step forward for the Georgia breweries. The bill is seeing support from the GA Craft Brewers Guild & the GA Beer Wholesalers Association. Which is great for everyone to have them both working together! For more details about SB85 here’s an article by the AJC.
Also, today is Georgia Beer Day! So if you’re in Georgia and looking for something to do on this bright sunny Saturday stop into your local brewery. Most are participating in some form or fashion. Some breweries are having special bottle releases, special cask tappings, raffles, etc… Also, most of these events happening today are helping to raise money and support the GA Craft Brewers Guild (mentioned above). For more information about the GA Craft Brewers Guild and what they do click here. Going to keep today’s post short so I can go out to a brewery later. If you are still trying to decide where to go click here for a list of everything going on for Georgia Beer Day. Have fun, and please post a comment about where you went for Georgia Beer Day.
