Harvest and Dry Out Hops (DIY Video) – Printer’s Ale

Harvest and dry out hops

I can’t believe I forgot to post this video on how to harvest and dry out hops. Guess I’ve been real busy at Printer’s Ale.

So back in August, I harvested the hops from our hop yard. (You can see the video on how I made the hop trellis here.) In this video, I will show you step by step how to harvest and dry out hops, and then store them until you would like to use them for your brew.

This was our first year growing hops and we are in Georgia, so it’s not the best climate for growing them. However, through a lot of research and reaching out to other hop growers I was able to get a decent yield at harvest time. The plants (hop rhizomes) will not actually mature for probably 3 seasons, but it was still exciting to be able to harvest a few pounds of hops this first year.

We are planning on expanding the hop yard next year. Stay tuned and subscribe for more videos!
