Working in the craft beer industry has a lot of perks, and one of them is getting to have meetings at Brewpubs and bars.
Earlier this week I had a business meeting and we set it up at Torched Hop in Downtown Atlanta. I was pretty excited because I had never been there before (they opened Spring 2016). The business meeting went well, but honestly, I have to go back so I can really enjoy the atmosphere of Torched Hop. I kept getting distracted wanting to walk the layout of the brewpub and read the menu, or check out the cool artwork around the place. It took me a couple beers to realize above the main entrance there are various red to orange colored hops made of metal hanging from the ceiling. The owners took their time in making this place unique as hell. It feels just under upscale with an overall vibe of laid back. Real cool.
Torched Hop will be serving over a dozen brewed in-house beers and have a wide range of local GA beers from other breweries.
One of my “Guest Beers” was from a little Brewery North West of Atlanta called Gate City (be looking for a post on them later). The other beers I had were all Torched Hop originals. The first being Sherman’s Wrath Smoked Porter. This was a very good beer, but I have to take a minute to point out why I think the name is so cool: Its name is an homage to General Sherman and him burning down Atlanta during the civil war, his wrath was a scorch and burn policy to bring the war to a concise end, the beer tastes smokey, and the brewpub’s name is Torched Hop. Whoever named this beer… good damn job. Another beer I had was a cucumber cream ale which had a very fresh crisp/dry melon taste to it. Very refreshing and unique.
Open 7 days a week.
If you’re in the Ponce/Highland area of Atlanta and looking for a good beer go check them out. If you’re not in the area get in your car and drive to them, but figure out your ride back, because there are so many beers to try. Learn more about them at their website here. The brewpub is located at 249 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30308. Check them out and post here what beer you tried.
