No Shoes, No Shirt, No Pants Pilsner, no problem… as long as you have a few of the last one in the cooler. I recently got to try the No Pants Pilsner from Pontoon Brewing Co, at Muss & Turners in Atlanta. It’s a really cool restaurant me and my fiancee like to go on occasion (check out their website). Their food is great and they always have a good selection of tasty brews. If you do get a chance to go to Muss & Turners don’t forget to ask about the Speak-Easy.
It was a hot day and we sat on the patio so it seemed like a perfect time for me to keep doing Pilsner “research”. I had heard of Pontoon Brewing, but had not tried any of their beer yet, so I went with the No Pants Pilsner. Pretty good beer, it’s actually a California Common so it is fermented like an Ale, but at a lower temperature. It is brewed with Pilsen Malts and Saaz hops so it has a good taste profile, but easy drinkability. The beer is clear and light straw colored when poured from the bottle and smells a little bit like bread and grains. Mouthfeel is light, crisp, and maybe just a little sweet.
I think the breweries name really sums up this particular beer very well, perfect pontoon party sipping beer. I grew up on a lake so I’m very familiar with the slow ride pontoon boat life-style this brewery is promoting with their brand. Personally, I think they are doing a great job. Right now they are currently contract brewing in South Carolina, but they want to set up a production facility in Atlanta soon. I wish them the best and can’t wait to see what cool lake themed tasting room they set up. Learn more about them at their website.
