Irish Moss for Clearer Home Brew

I wanted to do a quick post about one of my favorite things to add to the boil while making a home brew, Irish Moss. Irish Moss is a fining agent that helps make your beer more clear and to reduce haze. I brewed for nearly a year without it. I’ve been using it for every brew since I first tried it and I am very happy with the results. Let me be clear though it’s not a filter, adding irish moss to the end of the boil will not make your beer perfectly transparent. However, for as cheap as it is and easy as it is to implement it (literally just pitch 1tsp/5 gallon batch about 5 minutes before flame out) you should use it if you want your home brew to be more clear.
